Definition of Bribery

Bribery refers to the offering, promising, giving, accepting, or soliciting of an advantage as an inducement for action which is illegal, unethical, or a breach of trust. It is unacceptable to:

  • Give, promise to give, or offer, a payment, gift, or hospitality with the expectation or hope that a business advantage will be received, or to reward a business advantage already given;

  • Accept payment from a third party knowing or suspecting it is offered with the expectation that it will obtain a business advantage for them;

  • Accept a gift or hospitality from a third party if it is believed or suspected that it is offered or provided with an expectation that a business advantage will be provided by Sarvamangala Society in return;

  • Threaten or retaliate against another individual who has refused to commit a bribery act or who has raised concerns under this policy.

Gifts and Hospitality

[Charity Name] accepts normal and appropriate gestures of hospitality and goodwill (whether given to/received from third parties) so long as the giving or receiving of gifts meets the following requirements:

  • It is not made with the intention of influencing the party to whom it is being given, to obtain or reward the retention of a business or a business advantage, or as an explicit or implicit exchange for favours or benefits.

  • It does not include cash or a cash-equivalent gift.

  • It is appropriate in the circumstances, taking account of the reason for the gift, its timing, and value.

Record-Keeping

Sarvamangala Society will maintain accurate and complete records of all financial transactions and donations, in accordance with applicable laws and standards. All expenses, gifts, or hospitality provided must be reported and recorded transparently.

Compliance, Monitoring, and Reporting

Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all individuals associated with Sarvamangala Society. Any suspected instance of bribery or corruption should be reported immediately to the designated Compliance Officer. Sarvamangala Society ensures that all reports will be treated confidentially and investigated appropriately. Retaliation against those who report, in good faith, suspected wrongdoings is strictly prohibited.

Training and Communication

Sarvamangala Society will provide training on this policy as part of the induction process for all individuals who work for us, and regularly thereafter. Regular communication and reinforcement of this policy will be carried out to ensure its understanding and implementation.
